Word versus Writing

6 Months! Seriously! I'm hoping to get better at this, especially when I quit my job.
I think part of the big problem is that I read my scriptures right before I go to bed, which can be pretty late, and so I don't feel like coming downstairs and blogging right away. And then by the next day, blogging isn't at the top of my list. But again, after Friday it might have a spot on my list.
A funny tidbit, usually because I read so late, marking the scriptures that are meaningful to me doesn't usually happen either. But last night I changed that because I am retiring my brown vinyl scriptures I've had since I was 8. I haven't felt like it in forever, but my cover fell off again Sunday, and they just look terrible. I think every Sunday that people must look at them and think they are terrible and why don't I have new ones. I also fear that someone will take it upon themselves to get me a new pair, when I really have one I just haven't been able to let go.
Anyway, that was a long rambling. On to the real post. So last night I finished up 2 Nephi and it was a fantastic chapter. I really love Nephi's writings, and I am sad that they are over for now. Really sad, but happy to move on to other things.
Nephi starts out this chapter with 2 very interesting verses that I have never noticed before, but I loved them!
So these verses are from 2 Nephi Chapter 33 and they are verses 1 and 2.

1And now I, Nephi, cannot write all the things which were taught among my people; neither am I amighty in writing, like unto speaking; for when a man bspeaketh by the power of the Holy Ghost the power of the Holy Ghost carrieth it unto the hearts of the children of men.

Can you imagine if he is saying he's a better speaker than writer how amazing it would be to hear him speak?
UAdd a Note

2But behold, there are many that aharden their bhearts against the Holy cSpirit, that it hath no place in them; wherefore, they cast many things away which are written and esteem them as things of naught.

This scripture was amazing to me. It has so many doctrinal applications. 1. It's super important to bear your testimony to people in word because there is a higher potential that a person would feel the Spirit and know that it is true. And 2. That it is very important to listen to conference over reading it because you are a more likely to be touched by the Spirit. I really thought this was applicable to the talk Elder Holland gave about the Book of Mormon in October 2009. That talk in writing would never do it justice.
If you want to check it out go HERE, and compare the feelings you feel. I love listening to it. I really actually just like to skip to last the last half where he gets very upset/emotional. You can feel the power in his words and you just want to share it with everyone. I LOVE IT!
