So I'm not going to double check the truthfulness of this, and just go off of what Regis told me on this one :)
It's how the Jesus fish came about, and it makes sense. So after Christ was crucified, the gospel tried to stay alive, but it wasn't super easy and in the end was crushed into an underground movement. That was the only place it was safe to meet, and there are some pretty cool places where they did meet. For the most part, things were squalshed out. But if you were in a social situation and you didn't know if someone was a believer you would draw half of the ( like that in the sand and if the other person finished it with this ) then you would know that they were Christian too.
Tada! The Jesus fish, that's relevant to me today, because sometimes that the only common ground you can get with people is that they believe in Christ.
That's my fun spiritual side for it, here is my cynical side to it. The whole Jesus fish is based of symbolism and what not. The Baptists I used to run with were all over the symbolism thing. They wouldn't call things pot luck because luck is derived from Lucifer, so that wasn't ok. Which, to each his own. Anyway, with this heavy symbolism, why is it that the fish are always swimming to the left? Seriously, symbolically where is that taking you? I'm just saying :)
Good night.
I didn't know that about the fish. Thanks for informing me! And as for your question...I have NO idea why fish swim to the left! =)
