Nephi's Psalm

I'm pretty certain that my favorite book in the BoM is 2nd Nephi. I really love it.
One of my favorite chapters is chapter 4.
Verse 16 (through verse 35) starts Nephi's Psalm and that is where I want to focus.
It's here if you want to read it.
I really love it, and could copy and paste the whole thing here, but I think that I'll just stick with the first two versus.
16 Behold, my asoul delighteth in the things of the Lord; and my bheart pondereth continually upon the things which I have seen and heard.
17 Nevertheless, notwithstanding the great agoodness of the Lord, in showing me his great and marvelous works, my heart exclaimeth: O bwretched man that I am! Yea, my heart csorroweth because of my flesh; my soul grieveth because of mine iniquities.
Verse 17 is what I am going to focus on here.
(I didn't come up with this thought, but it has stuck with me since I heard it).
When studying this someone pointed out how incredible that Nephi was saying this. Did we miss something? Paul says similar things, but we know that Paul wasn't a straight arrow his whole life.
Nephi I can only recall once being cross and it was with his family when they got upset that his bow broke. So how is it that he is a wretched man?
This is where the profound thought comes in.
Think about a windshield and driving into the sun. Do you notice that when you are heading towards the sun all the bugs and dirt on your windshield are magnified hugely. You can't miss anything. But if you turn and start driving away from the sun things look alright. Life is a lot like this. You may feel that you aren't doing spectacular, and may have lots of bug splats all over the windshield, but it's because you are heading in the right direction, and that makes them so much more apparent.
So lift your head up and smile.
Sorry I don't have more to add. Something really has to stick with me to get me right about it without my scriptures right in front of me. Plus, I seriously underestimated the time and such that it would take to blog about each nights scripture studies.
More to come though.
